Detroit Advanced Racing Team (DART) is a mentoring and athletic training program designed for select young DRYA Opti sailors (Ages 8-15) who demonstrate elite level racing skills and potential. DART gives motivated DRYA sailors an opportunity to participate in a higher level of training and develop their expertise through competition in local, regional, and national level events.

DART Athlete gets 70th at US National Championships!

Max Klaasen traveled down to the USODA National Championships to compete at one of the most prestigious events on the continent. Max represented DART well, sailing strong in a fleet of 250 boats! Congrats Max and keep up the great work!

Topsport  Flanders Regatta

Blake Stackpoole (Grosse Pointe Farms, MI), is currently sitting in 34th place at the Topsport Vlaanderen (Flanders) Regata in Nieuwpoort (Newport), Belgium after 2 days of racing! Stackpoole is racing as a part of Team USA and representing DART Sailing well on the intrenational scene as he braved some fierce conditions during the teams first days of competition abroad.     DART's Blake Stackpoole en route to Belgium with Team USA!


    Best of luck and good speed to DART Sailing's Blake Stackpoole in qualifying for a spot with Optimist Team USA! Blake is currently en route to Newport, Belgium for the Intrenational Flaanders Regata sponsored by Topspoort! We will keep updates coming as to Blake's training schedule with Team USA and on his preformance over the course of the week. Competition starts on July 4th and goes through the 8th.     Mentor Harbour Junior Olympics Marked a Total Success

    The teams first travel event was quite a wild one with breeze into the upper twenties and lower thirties and waves at approximately 4 feet! Although there was not much racing to be had, due to this extreme weather, many DART athletes braved the conditions and came out on top!   • DART Sailing Requirements

    1. DART athletes must compete in at least 3 of the travel events scheduled on the roster for the summer.

    2. DART athletes must attend at least 80% of the practices scheduled for the summer season.

    3. Sailors must attend at least 2 DRYA sanctioned events throughout the summer.

    4. All athletes will be required to fill out ALL relevant paperwork (will be sent out via email) and mail to by 6/14 in order to participate.

    DART SailorQualifies
    for  US National Team!

    DART Athlete Blake Stackpoole received his first invite to a U.S. National Team event after an awesome finish at the U.S. National Team Trials.

    Blake will be traveling to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD for a US National Team Practice in mid-June.

    After this high level training camp, he will be competing in at Yacht Club Nieuwpoort in Nieuwpoort (Newport), Belgium July 3rd through the 8th. Congrrats Blake on this wonderful opportunity and nice work representing DART at one of the most prestigious events in the world!
